Wockey Pool 2014 - Next Step: World Domination

Posted 3/25/14

Fellow and Prospective Wockeyites-

While recently attempting to trim my nails with a bandsaw, I somehow ended up lopping off my right index finger.  I know.  LAME, right?  Realizing that I should quickly seek medical attention, but forgetting the three-digit number one is supposed to call in such instances, I took to the Googles to do a little research on reattaching one's finger.  As I'm wont to do when online, I got distracted by thewockeypool.com, which I'm sure as many of you know by now, is the greatest website since this one.  While there, I discovered something interesting...namely, that WOCKEY IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD.

Whoa.

As many of you know, last year's Puckhead, Elena Luoto Meister, lives in Paris.  Of course, she's my cousin, so it's logical she knows about Wockey.  However, digging deeper into my list of Wockeyites, I discovered that we had entrants from Kazakhstan, Poland, and the Ukraine as well.  Seriously, WHOA!  Eight years ago, when I created the Wockey Pool from a Minneapolis Public Library computer that was generally only used for creating videos like this, I had no idea the pool would extend this far.  Frankly, I would've been happy if we had only reached Wisconsin.  But now we're worldwide, and it's all thanks to you!

Just 48 hours into the pool, we're already at 105 bracket entries.  Topping last year's record of 203 seems easy at this point, but we have to keep pushing it.  And that's all up to you!  Send your friends to thewockeypool.com!  Send your family!  Know someone in Africa?  Send them!  Don't know anyone in the Middle East?  Screw it--make a pen pal and bond over Wockey!  Before you know it, Wockey will have spread to places like this and this maybe even here

Maybe it's all the blood I lost after I misplaced my finger, or maybe it's a result of some disease I got from the random finger I ended up attaching in place of my own, but I believe we can do this.  I believe we can take over the world.  I believe we can bring peace, love, and Wockiness to all!  So get yourself, your friends, and your family in today.  A movement is happening--and it's name is Wockey!

Your Weirdly Whirly Worldly Wockey Commish,

Alex
